Anything Goes is a musical with music and lyrics by Cole Porter done in collaboration with the original book effort by P.G. Wodehouse and Guy Bolton, and then heavily revised by Lindsay and Crouse. As a group entity, they owned the rights to the production and royalties for the play. This fascinating document between them as "owners", and Lars Schmidt of Sweden was a contractual business agreement for the rights to bring the stage play "Anything Goes" to "first-class theatres" in the territories of "Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland"

The contract makes for captivating reading, as one learns about the necessary and requisite conditions which need to be met in order to maintain the right to bring the play to the theaters, allowing for automatic termination being the remedy for non-performance (of the contract). Such examples needing to be met were:

1. The Manager agrees to produce the said play at a first-class theatre in the territory herein mentioned not later than one (1) year from the date of this agreement"

2. The Manager must produce the said play within the time specified give at least fifty (50) first-class performances of the said play within the first twelve (12) months.

3. The Manager needs to give at least first (50) performances during each such succeeding twelve months.

4. The Manager agrees to pay to the Owners a royalty of six (6%) Percent of the weekly gross box office receipts from all performances.

A well-orchestrated document, and fascinating to read as one garners insight into the business world of what ordinarily one would think about as "art". A great piece in excellent condition with clean, bold signatures of "Cole Porter", "Guy Bolton", and "P.G. Wodehouse", important figures in the field of music and literature, each of whom are highly collectible in their own right!
