Ezekiel Goldthwait Twice Signed 1729 Land Grant

An early Massachusetts Bay Colony grant for a parcel of land in Medfield, Massachusetts, signed twice by Ezekiel Goldthwait. 1p, measuring 9.75" x 15", Medfield, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay, dated December 15, 1729. The document records the sale of a parcel of land containing 8 acres, lying in Medfield and belonging to Solomon Clark Jr., to his father-in-law Alexander Lovell for payment of "a considerable quantity of Land of a considerable value". Signed and sealed by Solomon Clark and countersigned by two witnesses. Also signed at the conclusion "Ezekl. Goldtwait Clerk" at the conclusion of the document, and again on verso. The document has flattened folds with small holes, tears, and paper loss that effects a very minimal amount of the text. Minor chipping to edges. Toning, foxing, and staining throughout. Boldly signed.

Ezekiel Goldthwait (1710-1782) was a wealthy businessman in colonial Boston and a prominent figure in the community leading up to the American Revolution. He served as Town Clerk of Boston for 20 years, was Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas and Clerk of the Court of General Sessions of the Peace, and was Register of Deeds for Suffolk County for 30 years. William Greene (1695-1758) was governor of the Colony of Rhode Island, and served four separate terms over the span of 11 years, beginning in 1743.

All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
