Hemingway Ernest

Hand addressed airmail envelope, 6.5" x 3.75". Post marked "February 25, 1961". Signed by Ernest Hemingway as "E Hemingway" within the body of the return address. In addition, the envelope is entirely penned in the hand of Hemingway: "E. Hemingway, PO Box 555, Ketchum, Idaho" to "Miss Kaye Halle, 3001 Dent Place NW. Washington 7, D.C, along with his side note of "Personal".

Envelope opened to back with faint tape ghosting, else near fine condition.

The envelope was postmarked from Ketchum Idaho, Hemingway's hometown, where he died only months after the postmark date on this envelope.The genetic disease, Hemochromatosis, ran in his family, which caused the inability to metabolize iron which results in symptoms of physical and mental deterioration. Hemingway had been diagnosed with it in early 1961, the year he killed himself. His sister Ursula, and his brother Leicester also committed suicide.
