Elton John & Bernie Taupin Signed 1st Ed. "Five Years of Fun, 1970 to 1975", PSA Authenticated
Signed book
Limited edition first printing of "Five Years of Fun" by Robert Hilburn, an illustrated account of Elton John's rise to stardom between August 1970 and August 1975. Numbered 776 out of 2,000 printed copies. 48pp. (Woodland Hills: Boutwell Enterprises, 1975). Boldly signed on title page as "Elton John" and "Bernie Taupin", respectively. The book was created as a souvenir of John's concert appearances at Doug Weston's Troubadour in West Hollywood, commemorating the fifth anniversary of his debut performance in America. Features white hardcover boards with gilt lettering at front. Light wear to spine with minor bumping to corners; isolated soiling present at cover's top right. Very good overall. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA verifying both signatures.

The songwriting partnership between John and Taupin first began in 1967, when the two both answered a newspaper ad from Liberty Records. Having said that he couldn't write lyrics, John was introduced to Taupin's work, and they have collaborated on more than 30 studio albums since. The duo's first hit would come in 1970 with "Your Song", leading to John's commercial success in the both the U.S. and UK that peaked from 1972 to 1975. Their subsequent relationship involved Taupin writing lyrics on his own with John then putting them to music, although in later years the songwriter also joined him in the studio. This method would lead to such hits as "Rocket Man", "Tiny Dancer", and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", among others.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
