Description:

Eisenhower Signed TLS "destroy the document after reading!", with Related Secreterially Signed TLS

Two typed letters, one signed by Dwight D. Eisenhower and the other with a secretarial signature. The first is 1p on White House stationery, measuring 6.75" x 8.75", Washington, D.C., dated August 9, 1960. Signed "D.E." and addressed to Hon. Sigurd S. Larmon. Eisenhower encloses a two-page typed memo regarding Nixon volunteers, and advises that "while it is not secret…I suggest you destroy the document after reading!" Accompanied by the typed document with information on various Nixon clubs and committees, along with the original transmittal envelope marked "Personal". Very fine, with a flattened mail fold and bold signature. Expected wear to the envelope.

The second letter is 1p on Eisenhower's personal stationery, measuring 7" x 10.25", Gettysburg, dated October 19, 1966. Signed "D.E." in a secretarial hand and addressed to Larmon as well. The letter forwards an attached list of "accomplishments of the Republican Administration I dashed…off from the 'top of my head'…" of which includes "Statehood of Alaska and Hawaii", "End of Korean War", "Largest reduction of taxes to that time", "First Civil Rights Law in 80 years", among several others. The letter has some light soiling from a removed paperclip, else very good.

Sigurd S. Larmon was chairman of Young & Rubican from 1944 to 1962 and was a leading figure in advertising and close friend of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He also volunteered for "Citizens for Eisenhower" and helped with the 1952 presidential campaign by promoting Eisenhower on both the radio and television.
