Edward W. Bok 4 pc. Archive of Signed Correspondence

An archive of correspondence from notable author and editor Edward Bok, consisting of (1) ALS, (1) TLS, and (2) ANS; ranging in date between 1887-1897. All items have been signed as "Edward W. Bok", with letters offering interesting details about his literary career. Exhibits varying degrees of toning, flattened folds, and light docketing in areas throughout. Very good.

The lot includes:

1.) ALS, 2p of a bifolium, measuring 5.5" x 8.5" dated June 27, 1887, New York, NY. A letter on Beecher Memorial letterhead from Bok, regarding the recent publication of Beecher Memorial; Contemporaneous Tributes To The Memory of Henry Ward Beecher, of which he was the editor.

2.) TLS, 2pp front and back, measuring 5" x 8", dated March 5, 1897, Philadelphia, PA. A typed letter on Ladies Home Journal letterhead to artist Charles Dater Weldon (1844-1935), in which Bok encloses a check for a drawing.

3.) Pair of two ANS, measuring 4" x 2.5" and 4.5" x 2.75". Both signed as "Edward W. Bok", dated January 27, 1891 and September 30, 1893, respectively.

Edward William Bok (1863-1930) was a Dutch-born American editor and Pulitzer Prize-winning author. He was editor of the Ladies' Home Journal for 30 years, between 1889-1919. Throughout his time with the magazine, Bok would author numerous articles opposing women's suffrage and the emerging feminist movement. His autobiography, The Americanization of Edward Bok, would be awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1921.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
