A group of photographs, all signed by American astronaut Edgar Mitchell (1930-2016), including: an official NASA Apollo 14 crew portrait released prior to the mission; two Black Number photographs depicting the lunar surface; one Black Number photograph depicting the spacecraft leaving the Launch Complex; and one Black Number photograph showing Apollo 14 crew members in quarantine examining lunar samples. The lot is comprised of:

- An official NASA Apollo 14 crew portrait captioned "Edgar D. Mitchell" (MSCL-63), signed at bottom left. In color, with semi-glossy surface. With NASA printed biography verso. Slightly blunted lower left corner recto, and black ink smears near the left edge verso.

- NASA AS14-64-9074, black and white satin-finish photographic print showing the gnomon marking out a specimen on the lunar landscape, signed at lower right. Light paper wavering to edges.

- NASA AS14-71-9896, black and white satin-finish photographic print showing the curvature and cratering of the Moon's surface, signed at center.

- NASA S-70-54121, black and white satin-finish photographic print showing: a "Ground level view of the Apollo 14 (Spacecraft 110/Lunar Module 8/Saturn 509) space vehicle leaving Launch Complex 39's Vehicle Assembly Building…" Signed at center right. NASA stamp and lengthy explanation in purple ink verso. A few isolated wrinkles near the edges, else near fine.

- NASA S-71-20373, black and white satin-finish photographic print depicting Apollo 14 crewmembers and other quarantined staff "show[ing] off some of the largest of the lunar rocks which they brought back from the Moon during a through-the-glass meeting with newsmen…" Signed at center left. NASA stamp and lengthy explanation in purple ink verso.

Edgar Mitchell participated in the Apollo 14 space mission conducted between January 31-February 9, 1971, when Commander Alan B. Shepard, Jr. led a 3-person crew comprised of himself, Command Module Pilot Stuart A. Roosa, and Mitchell as Lunar Module Pilot. The Apollo 14 mission marked several notable firsts: the first successful foray into the lunar highlands, and the longest distance thus traveled by foot on the lunar surface. Nearly 100 lbs.of geological samples were collected during the mission.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.
