Early Boston Bruins Memorabilia, 3 Pcs Including Eddie Shore Autograph!

A small collection of professional ice hockey memorabilia, specifically relating to the Boston Bruins, the oldest such team in the United States; and brilliant Boston Bruins defender Eddie Shore. The lot includes a 1964 check signed by Eddie Shore; a triumphant 1938-1939 "Worlds Champions" Boston Bruins poster; and a 1939-1940 Ward's Tip-Top Bread Eddie Shore collector's pin. The largest item, the poster, is framed behind glass and measures approximately 13.5" x 20" x .625."

The lot includes:

1. A "Springfield Hockey Association Inc. / Eastern States Coliseum'West Springfield, Mass." check signed by Eddie Shore (1902-1985) as "Eddie Shore" on the signature line. Check number 1871 in the amount of $40.50 dated December 10, 1964 was issued to Edward L. Canter, Inc. with funds drawn from the Valley Bank and Trust Company of Springfield, Massachusetts. Bearing the usual hand-stamps and other clerical marks. 8.25" x 3."

Eddie Shore was recently named one of the top 100 greatest professional ice hockey players of all time. The Canadian-born defender played professional hockey for over 10 years, the majority of that time (1926-1939) with the Boston Bruins.

2. A vintage "1938-1939 Worlds Champions / and / National Hockey League Champions / Winners of Stanley Cup and Prince of Wales Trophy" Boston Bruins poster framed behind glass. The poster features a collage of player, manager, and president portraits along with salient season statistics, interspersed with facsimile signatures. A small hole is located in the surface on Milt Schmidt's leg near the center right edge; and there is minor silvering visible towards the bottom of the frame. Some surface warping/wavering, and expected wear to the ebonized frame. Else near fine. Not examined out of the frame. The sight size of the frame is 12.5" x 19" while the actual size of the frame is 13.5" x 20" x .625."

During the November 1938-April 1939 season, the Boston Bruins won the National Hockey League season championship; the team's second Stanley Cup; and the Prince of Wales trophy.

3. A vintage collector's pin, "Winners Eat Ward's / Eddie Shore / Eats Tip-Top Bread," ca. 1939-1940, housed in a labeled holder measuring 2.5" square. The pin back appears to be intact but shows moderate rust. Not examined outside of the holder. The pin measures approximately 1.25" diameter.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.

All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.
