The check is made out in the amount of £13.5.7 to a recipient at the Hotel Ritz in London. The vintage walking cane is made of natural wood with a curved handle and rubber tip. Both in fine condition, the check measures 3.25" x 8.25" and the cane is 33" long.

The cane and check were acquired directly from the actor's personal estate and are accompanied by a copy of the tag from Doyle Auctioneers & Appraisers identifying its provenance.

Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. (1909-2000) was an American actor, producer, and decorated naval officer. The son of silent film legend Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., he carved out his own legacy in Hollywood with films such as The Prisoner of Zenda and Gunga Din, and later served with distinction during World War II in the U.S. Navy, earning numerous decorations.

In 1936, the year this check was written, Fairbanks, Jr. was living an international lifestyle, traveling frequently between Hollywood and London, where he had many personal and professional ties. His association with British aristocracy and cultural life was well known, and he would later be honored as an Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE).
