Two relics from the Pacific Theatre in World War II, both framed with a photograph and ideal for display.

1. An original piece of B-25 skin measuring 3.33" x 1", presented with an 8" x 10" b/w photograph signed by Richard E. Col, Capt. James H. Doolittle's co-pilot during the daring Doolittle Raid. The items are matted in black and set into a dark wood frame measuring 15.5" x 12.5". A COA from Edward W. Humphreys affixed on verso.

2. A piece of the original World War II-era teak decking from the USS Missouri, the site of the historic signing of the formal Japanese surrender on September 2, 1945. The wood measures 3.75" x 1" and is handsomely matted with an 8" x 10" b/w image of Douglas MacArthur signing the instruments of surrender aboard the Missouri. Set into a black framed measuring 16" x 13". Frame bears two small chips, easily touched-up, else fine. A COA from Edward W. Humphreys affixed on verso.

On Sunday, September 2, 1945, more than 250 Allied warships lay at anchor in Tokyo Bay. The flags of the United States, Britain, the Soviet Union, and China fluttered above the deck of the Missouri. Just after 9 a.m. Tokyo time, Japanese Foreign Minister Mamoru Shigemitsu signed on behalf of the Japanese government. General Yoshijiro Umezu then signed for the Japanese armed forces, and his aides wept as he made his signature.

Supreme Commander MacArthur next signed on behalf of the United Nations, declaring, "It is my earnest hope and indeed the hope of all mankind that from this solemn occasion a better world shall emerge out of the blood and carnage of the past."

On September 6, Col. Bernard Thielen returned to the United States and brought the surrender document and a second imperial rescript back to Washington, DC. On September 7, Thielen presented the documents to President Truman in a formal White House ceremony.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax.
