Nicholas II of Russia Czar 1868 - 1918 Dinner Plate used by the Imperial Family of Czar Nicholas II, the last Czar of Russia, executed with his family by the Bolsheviks in 1918 White China Dinner Plate made for the Imperial Family of Czar Nicholas II in 1906 to replace a plate manufactured during the reign of his grandfather, Czar Alexander II

Fine white china dinner plate made by the Imperial Porcelain factory in St. Petersburg. The 9.25" diameter plate features a gold rim and the crest and cypher of Czar Alexander II in red and gold. On verso, appears the emblem of Czar Alexander II and the date "1906" indicating this was a replacement plate made during the reign of Czar Nicholas II just after the Russian Revolution of 1905. Replacement plates were manufactured at the Imperial Porcelain factory until 1914. Evidently the plate here offered was previously broken in three pieces and subsequently repaired.

Czar Alexander II was the Emperor of Russia from 1855-1881 when he was assassinated in St. Petersburg. Nicholas and other family members witnessed Alexander II's death because they were staying at the Winter Palacein Saint Petersburg where he was brought after being attacked. He was succeeded by his son, Czar Alexander III. In 1894, Alexander III died and his son, Czar Nicholas II became Emperor.Czar Nicholas II abdicated following the February Revolution of 1917. He and his family were executed by the Bolsheviks in July 1918.

We currently ship via FedEx but if your purchase is shipping to a P.O. Box, we ship via USPS. All items are insured. We ship from our offices in Westport, CT. We may opt to use a third party shipper for very fragile, bulky or oversized items. Items requiring third party shipping will be denoted in the item description. Packages shipped internationally will have full value declared on shipping form. International buyers will be responsible for any customs fees incurred.
