Baseball Signed by 25+ MLB Players including Hall of Famers DiMaggio, Kiner, Slaughter, Irvin, Snider, Mays, and Lindstrom!

 

Rawlings RO-N model baseball, red-stitched animal hide, signed by 26 Major League baseball players in black ball-point pen, ca. 1977. Housed in a plexiglass globe on a pedestal. Comes with a JSA Letter of Authenticity dated August 27, 2018 and signed by Managing Member James J. Spence, Jr. Provenance: Acquired directly from the Kiner Family.

 

The baseball was signed by 26 well-known professional baseball players, including 7 Hall of Famers:

 

  • Joe DiMaggio (1914-1999) as "Joe DiMaggio" at the sweet spot, played center field for the New York Yankees, inducted 1955

 

  • Ralph Kiner (1922-2014) as "Ralph Kiner" at the sweet spot, played left field for Pittsburgh Pirates, inducted 1975

 

  • Enos Slaughter (1916-2002) as "Enos Slaughter" on one of panels, played right field for St. Louis Cardinals, inducted 1985

 

  • Monford "Monte" Irvin (1919-2016) as "Monte Irvin" on one of panels, played left and right field for the New York Giants, inducted 1973

 

  • Edwin "Duke" Snider (1926-2011) as "Duke Snider" on one of panels, played center field for Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers, inducted 1980

 

  • Willie Mays (born 1931) as "Willie Mays" at the back sweet spot, played center field for New York/San Francisco Giants, inducted 1979

 

  • Frederick Lindstrom (1905-1981) as "F Lindstrom" on one of panels, outfielder and 3rd baseman for New York Giants, inducted 1976

 

Also featuring the signature of Baltimore Orioles All-Star pitcher Dave McNally (1942-2002) as "Dave McNally" on one of panels.

 

This baseball was obtained by Ralph Kiner, who pursued a career as an Emmy award-winning sportscaster after his own professional baseball career. He hosted a post-game television segment called "Kiner's Korner" and commentated Chicago White Sox and New York Mets games for 53 seasons, making him the third-longest active baseball sportscaster of all time. He was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame in 1984.

 

Ralph Kiner had first played Major League Baseball as a left fielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates (1946-1953). During Kiner's sensational career as an outfielder and hitter, he was elected to the Pirates All Stars for 5 consecutive years, from 1948-1952. Next, Kiner played for the Chicago Cubs (1953-1954) and the Cleveland Indians (1955) during the remainder of his 9-year-long professional career. Overall, he was a 7x home run leader, with a lifetime batting average of .279. Kiner retired at age 32 after a serious back injury.
