New Haven, October 14, 1766. On watermarked laid paper. Fine condition.

Headed "Colony of Connecticut to the Judges of the Supr Court in their Fall Circuit 1766 Credit." Signed by the Judges near their names and amounts received, each for 57 Days Attendance: Chief Judge Jonathan Trumbull received £58..1..0 and Associate Judges Roger Sherman, Matthew Griswold, Eliphalet Dyer, and Robert Walker each received £48..9..0.

Roger Shernan (1721-1793) signed the Declaration of Rights (1774), the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the United States Constitution. Jonathan Trumbull Sr. (1710-1785) served as Deputy Governor of the Colony of Connecticut from 1766 to 1769 when he became Governor upon the death of Gov. William Pitkin. He served through independence until 1784. He was succeeded as Governor by Mathew Griswold (1714-1799), Connecticut's first Lieutenant Governor who had also succeeded Trumbull as Chief Justice of the Superior Court.
