Description:

Dealer's Lot of 30+ Signed Photos From Golden Age of Hollywood, TV, Radio, Musical Theatre, Opera, Dance!

The archive includes 36 celebrity publicity photos and pieces of ephemera, 34 of which are signed and/or inscribed (the Ginger Rogers and Theodora Lynch are unsigned.) The autographs provide an exceptional cross-section of movie, television, radio, musical theatre, singing, and dancing entertainers, ca. 1940s-1970s. The bulk of the lot consists of vintage black and white photographs, both glossy and matte, some of which are stamped or captioned verso. The average size of the photos is 8" x 10" but the largest piece measures 9" x 12." We've done our best, but two of the signers are unidentified, and there could be secretarial signatures found within the collection. Expected wear including scattered wrinkles, chipped edges, closed tears, and surface loss. Else very good to near fine. Please refer to catalog photos for additional information related to condition. Provenance: From the collection of a relative of Teddy Getty Gaston (1913-2017), the fifth and last wife of J. Paul Getty (1892-1976).

The mission of the school, established by area educator Sara Pyle Smart, was to fulfill both the academic and spiritualist needs of Christian Scientist children, from pre-school through high school. Timothy "Timmy" Getty (1946-1958), the only son of Teddy and J. Paul Getty, briefly but very happily attended the Daycroft School before he died of a brain tumor at age 12 in August 1958.
