A wonderful collection of memorabilia from the 1966-1968 live action television series "Batman," the ABC network spinoff based on DC Comics characters. Included are the autographs of Adam West, Frank Gorshin, Burgess Meredith, Judy Newmar, and Cesar Romero, more commonly known in their roles as Batman, The Riddler, The Penguin, The Catwoman, and The Joker respectively. With a bonus photograph depicting the Batmobile! Condition issues will be elaborated below, but condition is overall very good to near fine. Please refer to catalog photos for additional information related to condition. Six pieces total. The largest item measures 10" x 8."

The lot includes:

Batman/Bruce Wayne

- A business account check signed by Adam West (1928-2017), who played Batman/Bruce Wayne in the television series, as "Adam West" on the upper signature line. Check number 3309, dated September 1, 1981, directed agents from the Beverly Hills Main Office of Bank of America to pay $102 to Apollo International from an account associated with the Los Angeles firm C/O Tucker, Morgan, Martindale & Company. The co-signature is printed. Bearing the usual clerical hand-stamps and endorsements. Near fine. 8.5" x 3.5."

The Riddler

- A clipped double signature by Frank Gorshin (1933-2005), who played The Riddler in "Batman," Seasons 1 and 3, signed as: " Frank Gorshin / Riddler!" at center. N.d., n.p. This was probably clipped from a period acting/talent directory. Actor Bryan Grant is featured verso. Isolated darkening to the right edge, else near fine, trimmed to an overall size of 7.75" x 2.125."

The Penguin

- The autograph of Burgess Meredith (1907-1997), better known as The Penguin in the television series, signed as "Burgess Meredith" at center. June 8, 1943. N.p. Even toning and stray traces of blue ink, including some touching Meredith's signature. Two other unidentified celebrities have signed verso.

The Catwoman

- A blank index card signed and inscribed by Julie Newmar (born 1933), celebrated for her role as The Catwoman in "Batman," Seasons 1 and 2, as: "for Roy / Love / Julie Newmar" at center. N.d., n.p. A newspaper clipped biography with portrait and former collector's annotations can be found verso. Expected wear including toning and isolated discoloration. Else very good.

The Joker

- A pale green blank index card signed by Cesar Romero (1907-1994), who played The Joker on the television series, as "Cesar Romero" at center. N.d., n.p. 5" x 3."

Batmobile

- A 10" x 8" glossy black and white photograph depicting the Batmobile, a 1955 Lincoln Futura modified by George Barris for the television series, complete with bat wing tail fins and contrasting decals. Promoting the exhibition of Batman's vehicle at the Chicago Historical Antique Automobile Museum, Inc. in Highland Park, Illinois. Expected minor wear including surface scuffs, wrinkles, and edge curling, else very good.

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house world-wide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
