A dealer's lot of musical memorabilia related to three important 20th C. musicians: American contralto Marian Anderson; American-British violinist and conductor Yehudi Menuhin; and American composer Richard Rodgers. The lot is comprised of three vintage signed photos, plus an additional vintage photograph and concert program relating to Anderson. Various dates. N.p. Please refer to catalog photos for additional information related to condition, which is overall very good. The largest item measures 8" x 9.875."

The lot includes (in alphabetical order by musician):

1. A black and white satin-finish photograph of Marian Anderson (1897-1993), signed, inscribed, and dated by her as: "To / The Memorial Union / with / kindest regards / Marian Anderson" in the upper right corner. Studio-numbered in the negative at lower right recto, and hand-stamped "Marian Anderson" at the top verso. Expected wear including isolated scuffs recto and fingerprints verso. Overall gentle curling. Else near fine. 7.625" x 9.875."

2. A black and white matte-finish photograph of Anderson before a performance in her dressing room. Fingerprints verso, with overall gentle curling, else near fine. 7.875" x 9.875."

3. A program from the "Indiana University Auditorium Series, 1941-1942," presenting a concert with Marian Anderson on Thursday, January 15, 1942. The 6pp program includes information about the pieces by Handel, Schubert, Bizet, Dvorak, Rachmaninoff, and other composers which Anderson performed at the concert. Scattered negligible scuffs, else very good. 6" x 9.125."

4. A black and white semi-matte finish gelatin silver photograph of Yehudi Menuhin (1916-1999), signed and inscribed by him as: "To Peter Applebaum 1975 (?) / all best wishes / Yehudi Menuhin" outside the image along the bottom edge. Printed on Agfa photographic paper. Isolated edge silvering and overall gentle curling, else near fine. 4" x 5.75."

5. A black and white glossy photograph of Richard Rodgers (1902-1979), signed and inscribed by him as: "To Peter J. Appelbaum / Sincerely, Richard Rodgers" outside the image along the bottom edge. A large vertical wrinkle running from top to bottom at center, with additional isolated wrinkles. Overall gentle curling, else good. 8" x 9.875."

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house world-wide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
