A pair of colorful first-day covers signed by two important early Israeli leaders, David Ben-Gurion and Moshe Dayan. Great for any beginning collector!

The lot is comprised of:

1. A first-day cover featuring the signature of former first Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion (1886-1973) as "D. Ben-Gurion" in the address section. The cover commemorating the opening day of the Israeli post office in Rafiah has a large orange cachet at the lower left. Bearing an Israeli stamp postmarked on July 23, 1967 from Rafiah, or modern-day Rafah, in the Gaza Strip. Expected wear including gentle wrinkles, else near fine. 6.75" x 3.875."

Ben-Gurion served as Israel’s first prime minister almost uninterruptedly between 1948 and 1963. During the later part of his premiership, Ben-Gurion also served as Israeli Minister of Defense.

2. A first-day cover featuring the autograph of Israel Minister of Foreign Affairs Moshe Dayan (1915-1981) in Hebrew in the address section. The green cachet is captioned in English as "Petah Tiqwa in its early days," referring to the modern-day city of Petah Tikva, located nearly 11 km east of Tel Aviv, Israel. The two Israeli stamps are both canceled and postmarked July 27, 1977 from Tel Aviv. Isolated pencil inscriptions in Hebrew from a former collector, else near fine. 6.75" x 3.875."

Moshe Dayan was an influential Israeli military commander and politician. He served in three ministerial roles over two decades, first as Minister of Agriculture, then Minister of Defense, and finally as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
