In full, "Dear Mr. Berliner, / As the artistic directors of the nine constituent dance companies of The National Corporate Fund for Dance, Inc. we would like to thank you for Chase Manhattan's leadership grant to the Corporate Fund's 1979 campaign. This year a record 170 corporations supported dance through the Fund. / The United States is the dance capital of the world. Some of the greatest creativity and talent in the field is found in our country. We have the best dancers, the most creative choreographers and designers and some of the finest teachers. We are fortunate to be working at this time with a group of artists who share our dedication to building the best dance companies in the world. And, we are equally fortunate to have your support to accomplish our task. / We take great pride in the achievements of our dance companies. We hope that you will continue to provide support and enjoy our performances."

The Fund For Dance, which organized the first consolidated drive to raise money for a performing art in the United States, ended operations on March 31, 1994. The Fund was founded in 1973 as The National Corporate Fund for Dance. As the name implied, it solicited contributions to dance companies from the business community. The money was devoted to general operating expenses of major touring companies. During its twenty-year existence, the Fund distributed more than $6.5 million, raised from more than 250 corporations, to forty dance companies.
