D. Eisenhower Sends His Personal Handkerchief For Auction & Signs It Along with TLS Authenticating!

Dwight Eisenhower's Personally Owned Handkerchief, signed in pencil by Eisenhower diagonally as "Dwight D. Eisenhower. The handkerchief from the General's uniform as stated by the TLS described below measures 18" x 18" inches, and folded 4 times into small square.

TLS, one page, 6" x 8", dated October 23, 1945, addressed from the Headquarters of the U.S. Forces, European Theater from the Office of the Commanding General to Miss Mary Deveney of "The Good Neighbors." The TLS is sent to Deveney to authenticate the personally used handkerchief that was offered in auction in 1945 and again today! Paper loss in corner, some toning but boldly signed.

In full:

"Dear Miss Deveney:
While I have had to make it a policy to decline to send items of personal uniform and equipment to individuals requesting such things from me, a handkerchief seems such a small thing, and the purpose of your organization seems so definitely good, that I am violating my practice in this case.

You will find enclosed a handkerchief, on which I have written my name as legibly as possible, together with the autographed photograph you requested.

Sincerely,

Dwight D. Eisenhower"

Accompanied by newspaper clippings concerning the charity auction organized by The Good Neighbors of Holmes Presbyterian Church in Holmes, PA, and held on a Saturday in late 1945, at which the Eisenhower hankie achieved one of the top prices of $20.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
