"I did not keep my door closed that afternoon but if real need - for I had appointed it with a young painter friend to make a drawing of me, and he had just got himself settled in[.] I will be at home tomorrow at 1/2 past five - and shall most gladly see your young Oxford friend[.] I am deeply sorry about my dear Pére Faquer[?], and will go to see him today. I am very grateful for your note, and your flowers, and his. With love to Edith..."
