Gentleman's Magazine, November 1759, 47pp. Complete, with rare instructions of General Wolfe to the 20th regiment in case of invasion and plan of the River St. Lawrence, including a battle map showing troop movement at Quebec. Current information on the French and Indian war (known in Britain as the Seven Years War). Also with news of the return of the comet, predicted by astronomer Edmond Halley. This being the first return of the comet following Halley's death in 1742. Ex-Guthman.

The Gentleman's Magazine was founded in London, England, by Edward Cave in January 1731. It ran uninterrupted for almost 200 years, until 1922. It was the first to use the term "magazine" (from the Arabic maš™µÑzin, meaning "storehouse") for a periodical. Samuel Johnson's first regular employment as a writer was with The Gentleman's Magazine.
