A diverse collection of five Haggadahs produced from 1938 to 1965, featuring a range of both traditional and nationalistic contents. Printed in a variety of languages including Hebrew, English, and German. Highlights include a 1949 special edition Passover Haggadah produced for the I.D.F. and a 1965 full color edition of Arthur Szyk's interpretation. Varying degrees of uneven toning, staining, and minor tearing throughout; moderate wear to box accompanying the Szyk edition. Please see below for further information on contents.

The lot includes:

1.) The Haggadah Executed by Arthur Szyk. A Superb Colorful Edition. (Israel: Massadah and Alumoth, 1965). Unpaginated. Text printed in both English and Hebrew. Silver metal covers featuring intricately embossed reliefs to front and back, with turquoise stones inlaid on verso. Housed within its original box. 7" x 9".

2.) Palestinian-Eretz Israel Haggadah by Jakov Smilanski. (Tel-Aviv: Palestine Publishing Co., 1938). 47pp. Featuring images from notable Zionist photographers Avraham Soskin, Ya'acov Ben Dov, and others. Yellow hardcover cloth boards with floral design on front cover. Text printed in both Hebrew and German. 4" x 7".

3.) Haggadah for the Day of Independence by J. Meyerhoff. (Tel-Aviv: Yafet Press, 1955). 48pp. Scarce edition with black and white illustrations. Paper wrappers. Nice Zionist contents. 4.75" x 6.5".

4.) Passover Haggadah, special edition of the Israeli Defense Forces. (Jerusalem: Levin-Epstein Brothers & Co., 1949). 32pp. The first Haggadah published by the I.D.F., printed shortly after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Dark grey paper wrappers. 5.5" x 8".

5.) Palestine-Eretz Israel Haggadah. (Tel-Aviv: Malan Printing Ltd., 1950). A revision copy of Jakov Smilanski's 1938 edition adapted in response to Israel's newfound statehood. Paper wrappers with floral design on front cover. 4" x 7.25".

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house worldwide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third Party Shipping Option: If a third party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
