Chester Nimitz Signed Letter in Response to a Student Interested in Naval History

Single page autographed letter signed, 8" x 10.5", on letterhead of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, U.S. Navy, Quarters One Yerba Buena Island in California. Dated "28 July 1964", and boldly signed by Chester Nimitz as "C.W. Nimitz". Written in felt tip to recto of page with verso blank. Letter in fine condition.

A lovely letter by Nimitz in response to Henry, a student interested in Naval History, specifically during the period of WW II. Nimitz recommended the History of United States Naval Operations in World War II, by Samuel E. Morison, an official historian of the Navy Department, and expressed by quite pleased with Henry's pursuits, and offered him some personal memorabilia. His letter shown in part below:

" I am indeed -pleased that you are a student of American History with emphasis on the U.S. Naval Operations of World War II … I enclosed some pictures and a bit of gold lace from one of my coats - "

Of course their mutual interest would spark Nimitz, who was a fleet admiral of the United States Navy, and played a major role in the naval history of World War II as Commander in Chief, US Pacific Fleet and Commander in Chief, Pacific Ocean Areas.  A wonderful letter showing Nimitz enthusiasm.
