An official NASA photo, "Crew of Space Shuttle Mission STS-87," serial number JSCCL-160, signed by five of six crewmembers including: Kalpana Chawla, killed during the STS-107 "Columbia" mission in 2003; Takao Dai; Kevin R. Kregel; Steven W. Lindsey; and Winston E. Scott. (The only missing signature is that of Payload Specialist Leonid Kadeniuk.) N.d. but probably ca. 1997. N.p. The reverse has biographical descriptions of the STS-87 space mission's six crewmembers. Printed on glossy paper. Expected wear including minor wrinkles and handling marks. A minor closed tear along the top edge has been repaired. Else near fine. 10" x 8." Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from Zarelli Space Authentication (Ballston Lake, New York), serial number Z006906, dated May 5, 2024.

The STS-87 mission conducted aboard the space shuttle "Columbia" launched on November 19, 1997 and safely reentered the Earth's atmosphere on December 5, 1997. During their more than 15 days in space, mission astronauts completed objectives including two EVAs. Experiments relating to the U.S. Microgravity Payload and SPARTAN-201 (a spacecraft tasked with taking measurements of the solar corona) were also undertaken.

The signers include, in alphabetical order:

1. Kalpana Chawla (1962-2003), STS-87 mission specialist, signed as "Kalpana Chawla" in the upper left corner. Chawla's participation during the STS-87 mission made her the first astronaut of Indian heritage in space. She was killed during a subsequent STS-107 "Columbia" mission on February 1, 2003.

2. Takao Dai (born 1954), STS-87 mission specialist, signed as "Takao Dai" in the upper right corner. During the STS-87 mission, Dao would become the first Japanese astronaut to complete an EVA.

3. Kevin R. Kregel (born 1956), STS-87 Commander, signed as "Keven Kregel" at lower right. This was the third of four space missions for Kregel.

4. Steven W. Lindsey (born 1960), STS-87 Pilot, signed as "Steve Lindsey" at lower left. Lindsey would go on to complete four additional space missions during his career.

5. Winston E. Scott (born 1950), STS-87 mission specialist, signed as "Winston Scott" at upper center. This was Scott's second and last space flight.
