Carter Thanks Joanne Woodward for Donation, On Behalf of "world's most forgotten women, men and children"
TLS

A fine association typed letter signed, Atlanta, May 8, 2017. To Joanne Wood, wife of actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, on his post-Presidential gilt-imprinted letterhead. Near fine condition. 1p. 7.25" x 10.5".

In part:

"…Rosalynn and I are grateful for your recent contribution and thank you for your renewed commitment to our work. It is an honor to count you among our partners. Because of your generosity, The Carter Center is able to help the world's most forgotten women, men and children. On behalf of all those with whom we work for who are struggling to survive and improve their lives, we thank you…".

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter founded The Carter Center in 1982. That same year, Paul Newman created Newman's Own, a mission-driven food-and-drink manufacturer which donates all of its after-tax profits to charity through Newman's Own Foundation which seeks "to co-create positive change for children who face adversity."

In 2002 Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Price for "to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development" through the Carter Center.
