A sepia-toned photograph of Nation posed with a large group of people in front of Hatchet Hall in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Measuring 9.5" x 7.5", mounted on cardboard to the overall size of 11.375" x 8.375", dated 1911. Minor bumping at the corners of the photograph with ink mark and soiling on the top edge. Caroline Amelia Nation (1846-1911) was a radical advocate of the temperance movement, known best for attacking bars and saloons with a hatchet. Between 1900-1910, Nation and her acolytes destroyed bars and taverns across the Midwest, and Nation was arrested an estimated 30 times. Toward the end of her life, she purchased Hatchet Hall located in Eureka Springs, AR which she hoped to turn into a boarding house for widowed and single women.

John Tackett owned a photography studio in Coffeyville, KS where Tackett would capture the famous images of the Dalton Gang after the Coffeyville raid. Tackett would also go on to collaborate with Emmett Dalton in order to write, film, produce and distribute a movie about the raid.
