Signed "Calvin Coolidge" and addressed to his broker, Thomas Cochran, at J.P. Morgan. With flattened mailing folds. There is a small stain at the upper left corner. Boldly signed. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.

In full:
"My dear Mr. Cochran: It was a pleasure to see you again. Enclosed is a draft for the account I have arranged through your just kindness. I am just leaving where I shall see Mr. Prosser."

Coolidge had just left The White House on March 3, 1929. Three months later, on October 19, 1929, the Dow-Jones industrial average suffered a major devaluation. The Dow lost over 500 points and stock trading markets worldwide were all suffering similar declines. At the time, there was a lot of concern over what this meant to the overall economy of the world. Today, the crash of 1929 continues to be a fascinating example of panic in high finance and is still taught as a prime example in Economic classes.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
