Description:

Coolidge Calvin 1872 - 1933 Calvin Coolidge ALS, nice framed presentation.

Single page ALS, on 51 Madison Avenue stationary stock, 4.5" x 7.5". Dated "June 11, 1930", and signed Calvin Coolidge as "Calvin Coolidge". Lightly toned, else near fine. Presented matted, framed and glazed, in a lightly nicked black wood frame to a size of 8.5" x 12". Frame backing is worn, and missing the hanging wire.

A lovely letter penned to "My Dear Mr McCall" noting that "This will introduce to you a friend of mine and (illegible) neighbor across the Avenue Mr Richard... 373 Madison Ave who wants some insurance / Cordially / Calvin Coolidge / Mr John A McCall /New York City".

John A. McCall was President of New York life insurance company, a highly prestigious post he ultimately held for 14 years. A series of scandals affecting life insurance companies the country over ultimately forced McCall's resignation from New York Life in January 1906, a month before his death. According to the NY Times he was "the last of the Presidents of the three great life insurance companies to resign his office as a result of the scandals." The other two were James W. Alexander, president of the Equitable Life Assurance Company and Richard A. McCurdy, president of the Mutual Life Insurance Company. All three men suffered physical breakdowns as a result.

A lovely scarce ALS in highly collectible condition. Boasting a large bold Calvin Coolidge signature in the year after his Presidency. Presents well.
