Brooke Astor Pair of Signed Fax Transmissions to Prince Charles, "With as always admiration"
TDS

Brooke Astor (1902-2007). A typed document signed, "Brooke," 1p, 8.5" x 11", New York, May 21, 1996, being a fax message to the then-Prince of Wales regarding The New York Hospital's 225th Anniversary. In blue felt-tip, Astor handwrites a salutation, "Your Royal Highness" and a valediction, "With as always admiration and affection." Four pages of supporting paperwork are stapled at top left. Light toning and creasing. In near fine condition.

Here, Astor politely asks the future King "if by any chance it would be possible for your mother, her Majesty the Queen, to send greetings and good wishes for many more centuries of success..." saying that it "would mean so much to the hospital..." She ends on a more personal note, "I...hope that you will be able to come to me in Maine after your visit to Canada."

WITH: A typed document signed, "Brooke," 1p, 8.5" x 11", New York, March 17, 1997, being a fax message to the then-Prince of Wales regarding his recent visit to New York. In blue felt-tip, Astor handwrites a salutation, "H.R.H. Dear Sir," and a valediction, "With as always admiration." Light pencil notation at top right. A few stray ink marks. Minor toning and creasing. In near fine condition.

Here, Astor thanks the future King "for bringing Shakespeare to the children" and relays "how delightful it was...not only for me but for everyone who heard you speak...the fact that you were here was a very happy and important thing for us New Yorkers."
