Bob Dylan "Tangled Up In Blue" Autograph Signed Lyrics, With Jeff Rosen COA

The entire song lyrics to Bob Dylan's single "Tangled Up In Blue" inscribed and signed by the legendary folk musician himself. Signed by Bob Dylan (born 1941) as "Bob Dylan" near the bottom. 2013. [The Dorchester, London, England.] Dylan has neatly inscribed the lyrics to his song "Tangled Up In Blue" on a 1p leaf of heavyweight hotel stationery with silver-embossed letterhead reading "The Dorchester / London/ Dorchester Collection." A few words are written over the hotel's address at upper right. Near fine. 8.25" x 11.75." Accompanied by a COA from Jeff Rosen, Dylan's longtime manager.

Dylan carefully wrote out the lyrics to "Tangled Up In Blue" in 39 lines forming seven paragraphs with punctuation, in an interesting contrast to how song lyrics are normally presented separated by line breaks. Dylan's lyrics begin with the first lines, "Early one morning the sun was shining and I was lying in bed" and conclude with the last lines, "We Always did feel the same depending on your point of view Tangled Up in Blue." Dylan fans will notice subtle rephrasing and minor word changes in this 2013 recapitulation of Dylan's lyrics as compared to the official Bob Dylan lyrics from 1975. As Dylan explained in a 1985 interview regarding "Tangled Up In Blue," he sometimes altered lyrics because he got bored with the old ones. Examples of such changes here include swapping "Both agreeing it was best" for "where in the wilderness" (line 10); "Right outside of Delacroix" for "before it was destroyed" (line 15); "She was working in a topless place" for "She was working at the Roadside Bar" (line 18); and "Heading for another joint" with "trying to stay out of the joint" (line 38).

"Tangled Up In Blue" was the opening song to Dylan's fifteenth studio album, "Blood On The Tracks," released by Columbia Records in January 1975. The album attained No. 1 status on the Billboard 200, with this specific song, the single "Tangled Up In Blue," reaching a high No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album, with its ten tracks originally recorded in both New York City and Minneapolis, is one of Dylan's all-time best-selling releases, reaching double-platinum status.

About this song, Dylan stated: "I was trying to deal with the concept of time, and the way the characters change from the first person to the third person, and you're never sure if the first person is talking or the third person. But as you look at the whole thing it really doesn't matter."
