Speech notes related to Iran, generated sometime during the leadership of Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini (1902-1989) between 1979-1989. In extra fine condition although with ripped three ring binder holes, measuring 5.5" x 8.5". The speech notes read as follows, with untouched spelling errors:

Iran

The specific individuals known to have taken part should be punished. The dictatorship of the Khomeni regime overthrown, -- this is the prise that we should want from Iran. The deaths, a hundred times over, amongst Iran's military, has already accrued to avenge the deaths of our Marines. Then we should support Iran.

  1. Democracy
  2. The Emancipation of Women

Eldridge Cleaver became actively involved in the Black Panther Party during its infancy. Along with other Panthers, Cleaver believed that centuries of systematic racism, mistreatment, and oppression of American blacks could be eradicated by black empowerment, and that this should be achieved through violent means if necessary. Cleaver's notes show his interest in current political issues, notably the disintegration of Iran-American relations. After the United States took in the aging former Shah for cancer treatment, Iranian student revolutionaries endorsed by Khomeini overran the U.S. Embassy at Tehran, holding 52 employees hostage for 444 days. Khomeini became the first Supreme Leader of Iran following the revolution.
