Bill Clinton White House TLS "see you the next time I'm in the Keystone State"
TLS

Typed Letter Signed by President Bill Clinton, dated March 15, 1996, on official White House stationery bearing an embossed presidential seal at the top. The letter is addressed to Gloria O'Donnell of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and is neatly typed with a bold blue ink signature, "Bill Clinton," at the conclusion. The content reflects a warm and personal tone, thanking the recipient for her correspondence, acknowledging her activities, and referencing a County Dinner engagement. The paper exhibits light, even toning with strong legibility throughout, and the embossed seal remains clearly visible. In fine condition with no folds. Accompanied by the original White House envelope. Measures 6.75" x 9."

O'Donnell was a member of Clinton's original campaign for Congressman in the mid-70s and later during his governmental years in Arkansas. Following O'Donnell's role on Clinton's Arkansas campaigns, the two would remain pen pals well into his presidential years and beyond.

In full:

"Dear Gloria:

Thanks for your letter of February 28. It's always so good to hear from you, especially now with so many new things going on in your life. I hope that all is going well with the new business and house. It sounds as if you'll be keeping yourself busy.

Thanks, too, for letting me know about the County Dinner. I've let my schedulers, Stephanie Streett and Anne Walley, know about it, and someone from their office should be in touch with you.
I'm grateful, as always, for your support and friendship and hope to see you the next time I'm in the Keystone State.

Sincerely,

Bill Clinton."

By March 1996, President Bill Clinton was actively campaigning for re-election during a pivotal period in his presidency. His administration was emphasizing economic growth, political moderation, and strong connections with grassroots supporters. Letters such as this illustrate Clinton's well-documented effort to maintain personal engagement with constituents and supporters, particularly in key states like Pennsylvania. Personalized correspondence on White House stationery highlights both the formal authority of the presidency and the political importance of individual relationships during an election year.
