Black-bordered Autograph Letter Signed "B. Disraeli," 3 pages, 4.5" x 7.25", front and verso on conjoined sheets. Grosvenor Gate, Park Lane, May 29, 1847. To John Nash Esq. Professionally mended and inlaid. Fine condition.

In full, "Sir, Altho' I am well aware, that, in this age, the professions of public men are little worth, yet I venture to hope, that you will read an address to the Electors of the County, in wh:[ich] I have announced my intention of soliciting their suffrages at the ensuing election. If, after reading it, & well weighing the circumstances of the times & of the county, you should be of opinion, that its writer was not disentitled to your confidence & support, I sh[oul]d be much gratified. I have the honor to be, Sir, Your faithful Sert."

Disraeli was a Member of Parliament for Maidstone (1837-1841) and Shrewsbury (since 1841) when he was a candidate for Member of Parliament for Buckinghamshire in 1847. He was elected and served in the House of Commons for Buckinghamshire from 1847 to 1876 when he was elevated to the House of Lords by Queen Victoria as 1st Earl of Beaconsfield.
