An ornate 1913 Chinese government bond printed in English, French, German and Russian

An ornately-engraved 5% bond certificate for £20 sterling, 13" x 18 (plus coupons), featuring text in English, German, French and Russian, issued by the Government of China, May 21, 1913. Expected folds, some marginal tears and creases, light soiling, minor mounting remnant, several rows of redemption coupons not present, else very good.

An attractive certificate featuring vignettes of farmers in rice paddies and pagodas with a centerpiece of Mercury seated beside an engine with a steam ship in the background. The document bears printed signatures of the Chinese minister of finance, the Chinese minister in London as well as the seals of the government and the ministry in London. Also singed by an unidentified representative of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in London. The total loan of £25,000,000 Sterling is also converted into other currencies including marks, francs, rubles and yen.

Packages shipped internationally will have full value declared on shipping form. International buyers will be responsible for any customs fees incurred.
