Description:

Beatles Archive Incl. Dodger Stadium Ticket Stub to their Second to Last Concert Performance

The Beatles were discovered in 1962 at The Cavern Club in Liverpool by Brian Epstein and George Martin. The group would go on to perform a series of concert tours throughout the UK in 1963. As Beatlemania and the British Invasion came into full force, they began a world tour while continuing to perform in the UK and US throughout 1965.

In 1966, following a controversial tour in Germany, Japan, the Philippines and the US, which was plagued with backlash due to Lennon's "more popular than Jesus" comment, the Beatles ceased to perform live and became a studio-only band.

Their last commercial performance was at San Francisco's Candlestick Park on August 29, 1966.

The Archive is comprised of:

1. Ticket Stub to the Beatles' second to last concert performance at Dodger Stadium on August 28th.

2. Blue membership card to the K-F-W Beatles Club.

3. Beatles fan club of Southern California card. No. 4857, "Doreen Doughty is a member in good standing and a confirmed Beatle Maniac." The verso features an image of the Fab Four, that was traced over and has additional writing likely in the owner's hand.

4. A note from the Hollywood Bowl Association that reads:

"Dear Patron:

We sincerely regret that we are unable to fill your order for either performance of the Beatles. We are returning your payment herewith.

We assure you that unusual effort has been made to allocate the tickets fairly. The number of orders which were mailed the first day far exceeded the supply of tickets. We found it necessary to sort the orders according to the time on the postmark. This, to our knowledge, is unprecedented in theatrical history.

We trust that this will explain our method of ticket distribution.

Hollywood Bowl Association"

5. A ticket envelope from Dodgers Stadium, which likely held the tickets to the show, dated 8-28.
