Archive of 12 Business & Political Signed Documents to L. Wiley, Business Manager of "New York Times"

An archive of twelve letters and signed items received by or collected by Louis Wiley, business manager of the "New York Times" for twenty-nine years. Wiley (1869-1935) was one of the best-known newspaper executives in the United States and was well-connected with those in government, entertainment, and journalism. This collection includes the correspondence, signed notes, and other materials belonging to Louis Wiley, dated from 1894-1943 and from a variety of notable business and political figures. Includes:

1. Typed Letter Signed "Sol Bloom". New York, dated December 26, 1916. Wishing Wiley a speedy recovery.
2. Typed Letter Signed "Paul M. Warburg". Washington, D.C., dated August 14, 1918. Thanking Wiley for his support and friendship.
3. Autograph Note on Mrs. Henry Morgenthau Business Card. No place, [January 25, 1935]. Presumably in Mrs. Morgenthau's hand, regarding napkins and a nice evening.
4. Autograph Letter Signed "William Rockefeller". Richmondville, dated May 14, 1861. To Messrs Huntoon, Gleason & Co., regarding the sale of beaver furs.
5. Typed Letter Signed "Felix M. Warburg". New York, dated April 23, 1914. Sending Wiley a $500 check.
6. Letter Signed "Simon Guggenheim". New York, dated March 30, 1934. Offering Wiley his sympathies following the death of his mother.
7. Autograph Letter Signed "SM Rosendale". Albany, New York, dated October 27, 1894. Acknowledging Wiley's business instructions.
8. Signed Card "Charles E. Hughes" on Supreme Court of the United States stationery.
9. Autograph Note Signed "Bernard M. Baruch". No place, dated November 30, [no year]. Thanking Wiley for his kind words.
10. Autograph Letter Signed "Neil Vanderbilt". New York, dated April 2, 1934. Offering Wiley his sympathies following the death of his mother.
11. Typed Letter Signed, Autograph Letter Signed, Typed Manuscript Signed "S.K. Rothschild" and "Sigmund". Typed letter dated September 8, 1934, to the Editor. Autograph letter dated December 15, 1943, to Tensie. Typed manuscript is undated copy of "Tuning In". All together with a blueprint sketch of Detroit's "Grand Circus Park".

12. Typed Letter Signed "Stewart L. Woodford". New York, dated March 9, 1908. Thanking Wiley for sending a copy of an editorial from the Philadelphia Ledger.

Expected mail folds to most, with varying degrees of toning, soiling, foxing, etc. Boldly signed by all. Please refer to the photographs for further condition.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice, unless you inform us otherwise, immediately upon your receipt of invoice***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third Party Shipping Option: If a third party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers.
