Apollo 12 Huge NASA Photo Boldly Signed by Conrad, Gordon, Bean & Supporting Cast, with Zarelli LOA
Signed Photograph

A 13.5" x 10.75" black and white photograph taken during the NASA Apollo 12 mission, featuring Alan Bean carrying the ALSEP package on the lunar surface. Boldly signed and inscribed along the mat by all three Apollo 12 crew members: Commander Charles "Pete" Conrad, Jr. (1930-1999) as "Good show - Let's do it a third time. Many thanks - Pete / Charles Conrad Jr."; Command Module Pilot Richard F. Gordon, Jr. (1929-2017) as "To Steph - A great effort - see you in Paree! Dick"; and Lunar Module Pilot Alan L. Bean (1932-2018) as "To Steph - You did one hell of a good job for all of us, many many thanks / Alan L. Bean." Additionally signed by the supporting cast from the event, for a total of 27 inscriptions. Attractively matted to an overall size of 20" x 16". Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from Steve Zarelli. Fine condition. From the collection of Elton Stepherson, Jr., one of the earliest African American employees of NASA.

Just a few months after the Apollo 11 mission allowed the first men to walk on the moon, Apollo 12 followed with another successful mission, and a very similar splashdown in the Pacific Ocean on November 24, 1969. Apollo 12 launched on November 14 from Cape Kennedy, and the mission's command and service module, the Yankee Clipper, entered lunar orbit on November 17. Two days later, lunar module Intrepid touched down in the Ocean of Storms near where the Surveyor 3 probe landed in 1967. Commander Charles "Pete" Conrad and lunar module pilot Alan Bean traveled to the surface, while command module pilot Richard Gordon stayed in lunar orbit. The astronauts completed two moonwalks, where they collected rocks, took measurements, and visited Surveyor 3 to remove parts for analysis.
