Charles A. Comiskey (1859-1931) aka "Commy" or "The Old Roman" was an MLB player, manager, and team owner. He was a key player in the formation of the American League and was a founding owner of the Chicago White Sox. Comiskey Park, which was named in his honor, served as the White Sox's home from 1910 to 1990. After his death, his daughter-in-law Grace Reidy Comiskey gained control of the team (having been widowed by the death of her husband, J. Louis Comiskey) and avoided its sale. Her two daughters, Dorothy Elizabeth and Grace Lou also became involved in the team, with Grace serving as assistant secretary of the White Sox and Dorothy becoming a principal owner of the team after her mother's death.
