Hermann Struck (1876-1944) was a German Jewish artist born Chaim Aaron ben David. After studying at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts, Struck became active in the Berlin Secession Movement and was noted as one of the most prominent print makers of the European modern art scene. Struck's well-known sitters included not only Albert Einstein, but also Sigmund Freud, Friedrich Nietzsche, Oscar Wilde, Henrik Ibsen, and Theodor Herzl. Struck's definitive manual on print making, "The Art of Etching" (1908) educated generations of artists including Struck's most famous student, Marc Chagall.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
