Julia Marlowe (1865-1950), born Sarah Frances Frost, was an English-born American actress. She made her Broadway debut in 1895, and nine years later began an extremely successful partnership with Shakespearean actor, Edward H. Sothern (1859-1933). The two toured all across the United States together, performing plays such as Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, The Taming of the Shrew, Twelfth Night, etc. The two married in 1911 and continued to perform together until Marlowe's retirement in 1924. After Sothern's death in 1933, Marlowe became somewhat of a recluse.
