Not examined outside of frame.

A vibrantly hand painted vintage lithographic poster, produced by Jules Rigo for the perfumer Gelles Freres, successor of Taveau. In 1826 , the brothers Jean-Baptiste and Augustin GellÍ© bought the formulas of the perfumer Jean-louis Fargeon and opened a new boutique in the second arrondissement of Paris at 35 rue des Vieux Augustins under the name "Parfumerie savonnerie GellÍ© frÍÎres". In 1844, at the same address, their shop took the name of "GellÍ© frÍÎres, successor of Taveau", and was designated as "inventor of the regenerator to maintain and grow hair, perfume and soaps of all kinds ..."

Although Gelle Freres is still in existance today, and in 2016 opened a new shop on the Avenue de l'Opera in Paris, the company did so by surviving a rocky path. In 1870, the factory was destroyed because of the Franco-Prussian War . A new factory was inaugurated later in Levallois-Perret , not far from the OrizaL. The "GellÍ© toilet soap" becomes a flagship product and in addition, the factory also produced one of the first toothpastes. Paul Í_mile Lecaron, buyer of GellÍ© frÍÎres and later president of the Syndicat de la parfumerie franÍ_aise, opened a prestigious boutique at 6 avenue de L'Opera.

In the 1890's, GellÍ© frÍÎres returned to the production of perfumes and by 1900, the house was awarded at the World Exposition. The company launched an advertising campaign called "Our Artists at Home", which featured actresses photographed in the process of applying make-up and perfuming. The company was reinvented numerous times, however it survived, and by 1970, Dr. Michel Pointet designed a new range of facial care. The brand then played on nostalgia and reissued old products such as glycerine toothpaste or soaps made from plant extracts.

Today, GellÍ© frÍÎres belongs to the company Ipsocos and has opened a cosmetics shop at 149 Rue de Charenton. The perfume range has been abandoned.
