A collection of eight scarce Civil War-era slavery imprints/pamphlets, published ca. 1860-1864. Individual descriptions offered below.

1. "The Southern Minister and His Slave-Convert." J. M. Ludlow. 4pp. 5.25" x 8". Manchester, UK: A. Ireland and Co., [n.y.]. Disbound with spindle holes at left margin, else good.

2. "First Annual Report of the National Freedman's Relief Association of the District of Columbia." 8pp. 5.5" x 8.75". Washington, DC: M'Gill & Witherow, 1863. Disbound, a bit of toning to extreme margins, overall very good.

3. "Speech of John P. Hale of New Hampshire in the Senate of the United States." 15pp. 5.66" x 9". [no publisher or date]. Light offsetting to first page, disbound, toned, good.

4. "Bill and Report of John A. Bingham, and Vote on Its Passage Repealing the Territorial of New Mexican Laws Establishing Slavery and Authorizing Employers to Whip 'White Persons' and Others in Their Employment, and Denying Them Redress in the Courts." 7pp. 9" x 5.5". Ca. 1860. Disbound, very good.

5. "Shall Free Trade be the Settled Policy of this Government? Address Delivered by Hon. Alexander K. McClure, of Franklin County PA., at the Wigwam, corner of Sixth and Brown Streets, Philadelphia, Wednesday, September 5th, 1860." 5pp. 5.66" x 9". Philadelphia: King & Baird, 1860. Disbound with pages separated, light toning and edge wear, good.

6. "Report of the Proceedings of a Converazione Held in the Manchester Athenaeum, on Monday evening, February 1, 1864, to Receive the Report of the Rev. Dr. Massie, Respecting His Anti-Slavery Mission to the American Clergy and Churches. Published by the Union and Emancipation Society." 33pp. 5.25" x 8.25". Manchester: Alexander Ireland & Co., 1864. Disbound, very good overall, with a partial revenue stamp on verso of last page.

7. "Speeches of Messrs. Cameron and Seward, on The Tariff. Delivered in the Senate of the United States June 15, 1860." 8pp. 5.75" x 9". Washington: Buell & Blanchard, [1860]. Disbound with spindle holes at left margin, overall very good.

8. "A Protective Tariff Necessary - Rights of Labor. A Speech of Hon. James H. Campbell, of Penn. Delivered at the House of Representatives, April 24, 1860." 8pp. 5.5" x 9". Washington: Republican Congressional Committee, [1860]. Disbound, spindle holes at left margin, very good.

9. "The Case Stated: The Friends and Enemies of The American Slave. James W. Massie, D.D., L.L.D." 8pp. 5.125" x 8.125". Manchester: Union and Emancipation Society, 1863. Disbound, light toning to edges, very good.

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house world-wide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
