8 Civil War Union Naval Letters with Requests to Keep Ships in Tip Top Shape
Archive
A small archive of eight naval letters and documents, with all but one war-dated from the Civil War. The group consists of signed letters as well as clerical copies of letters, all written aboard various US ships: USS San Jacinto, USS Wabash, USS Canandaigua, USS Housatonic, USS South Carolina, USS Armadillo, and USS Paul Jones. The majority of letters deal with repair requests needed for each vessel. All have flattened mail folds, with some small tears and separations at the folds or edges. Varying degrees of light toning, soiling, and staining. Boldly signed by all. Please refer to the photographs for further condition information. Very good overall.
