A small group of ephemera signed by Margaret Thatcher, Britain's first female Prime Minister from 1979-1990, two pieces; and by Sir Rex Hunt, Governor of the Falkland Islands between 1980-1985, one piece. N.d., n.p. Autographed pieces include two signed Official First Day or Official Commemorative Covers, and one signed "Time" magazine page. With a total of two Margaret Thatcher autographs and one Sir Rex Hunt autograph. Expected isolated wear, else near fine. The largest item measures 7.75" x 10.5."

The lot includes:

1. A double-sided page excised from "Time" magazine, Vol. 151, No. 14, dated April 13, 1998, a 100-year anniversary issue exploring "Leaders & Revolutionaries." Margaret Thatcher (1925-2013) has signed her cover story on p. 96 as "Margaret Thatcher" near the top edge. In color. Expected wear including marginal wrinkles, trimmed to an overall size of 7.75" x 10.5."

2. An Official Commemorative Cover celebrating the breakthrough of the Channel Tunnel on December 1, 1990, signed by Margaret Thatcher as "Margaret Thatcher" in the address section. Hand-stamped "Service Tunnel Breakthrough / Folkestone" and "1 Dec '90" near the postage section. With a large color cachet commemorating the ceremonial "meeting" of British and French workmen in the 31-mile-long underwater railroad system connecting Folkestone (UK) and Coquelles (France) on December 1, 1990. Isolated mounting traces verso, else near pristine. 8" x 4.5." Containing a bilingual English and French insert.

3. An Official First Day Cover commemorating the re-opening of Stanley Airport on the Falkland Islands on May 1, 1979, signed and inscribed by Sir Rex Hunt (1926-2012) as "Sir Rex Hunt, / Governor, The Falkland / Islands, / 1980-85" in the address section. The cancelled British postage is postmarked May 1, 1979, Port Stanley, Falkland Islands, at upper right. With a large color cachet depicting the airport's new paved runway at left. A few gentle wrinkles, and lightly pencil-inscribed verso, else near fine. 8.625" x 4.25." Governor Hunt was forced into exile following Argentina's invasion of the Falkland Islands in early April 1982; he was restored to power in mid-June 1982.

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house world-wide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
