2020 Presidential Election Day Capitol-Flown U.S. Flag, With Bonus 2021 Inauguration Day Announcement, Pristine!

A U.S. flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol on November 3, 2020, the date of the 2020 presidential election, at the request of Democratic U.S. Congressman from Virginia Donald S. Beyer, Jr. (born 1950). The flag is accompanied by several pieces relating to the 2020 Presidential Election and 2021 Inauguration Day, including: the flag's original cardboard box; flag care instructions; a Certificate of Authenticity, with transmittal envelope; and an unopened envelope containing a card issued by the Presidential Inauguration Committee announcing the upcoming presidential inauguration on January 20, 2021.

The lot consists of:

1. A U.S. flag, machine-made 100% nylon with polyester stars, and two brass grommets along the header, 3' x 5.' The materials label is located at the reverse of the canton. Currently loosely folded into 32nds, and stored in a cardboard box, with loose fold marks which could be ironed. Stored in a cardboard box measuring 9.5" x 12.5" x 1.5." The box has several identification stickers and inscriptions; one of these is partly marked as "Rm. H-1119," referring to Beyer's offices at 1119 Longworth House Office Building in Washington, D.C.

2. Printed flag care instructions.

3. A printed Certificate of Authenticity issued by J. Brett Blanton, Architect of the Capitol, stating in part: "This is to certify that the accompanying flag was flown over the United States Capitol on November 3, 2020. This flag was flown at the request of the Honorable Donald S. Beyer, Jr., Member of Congress, to commemorate the 59th presidential election. On this historic date, Joseph R. Biden was elected President of the United States and Kamala D. Harris became the first woman, the first African American, and the first Asian American to be elected Vice President of the United States…" Accompanied by an original manila transmittal envelope printed "Certificate / The Flag of the United States of America," with isolated glue residue.

4. An UNOPENED announcement from the Presidential Inauguration Committee, still sealed in its envelope, announcing the upcoming inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on January 20, 2021. (The printed calligraphy is partly visible through the envelope.)

The 2020 Presidential Election took place on November 3, 2020, and pitted 45th U.S. President and Republican incumbent Donald J. Trump (born 1946) against longtime Democratic career politician Joseph R. Biden (born 1942).

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.

In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
