Two Gemini 11 "launch day" philatelic covers, each signed by crewmates Charles "Pete" Conrad, Jr. (1930-1999) and Richard F. Gordon, Jr. (1929-2017). Each cover is postmarked September 12, 1966, one from Kennedy Space Center, and one from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Expected surface wear, else near fine. 6.5" x 3.75." Each cover comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Zarelli Space Authentication.

Conrad served as Command Pilot, and Gordon acted as Pilot during the 4-day-long Gemini 11 mission (September 12 - 15, 1966.) Accomplishments of this ninth crewed spaceflight included docking with the Agena Target Vehicle, an uncrewed spacecraft; undertaking two successful extravehicular activities; achieving a record-high Earth orbit; and even creating a zone of artificial gravity by spinning two tethered space vehicles!

The lot consists of:

1. A "Gemini 11 / Conrad-Gordon" cover, signed by Conrad as "Charles Conrad Jr." at center top; and countersigned by Gordon as "Dick Gordon" at center middle. Ca. September 12, 1966. Kennedy Space Center. The blue cachet depicts Gordon performing an EVA. Bearing a cancelled 5-cent U.S. stamp. Isolated discoloration from envelope glue only visible verso. Comes with a Zarelli Space Authentication LOA, submission number 161126-22, dated November 26, 2016.

2. A cover with a black and white cachet depicting the Agena Target Vehicle, signed by Gordon as "Dick Gordon" at center top; and countersigned by Conrad as "Charles Conrad Jr." at center middle. Ca. September 12, 1966. Cape Canaveral. Conrad's signature transects the printed caption: "Successful Launching of Agena #11. Purpose to link-up in space on its first orbit with Conrad and Gordon's Gemini #11." Bearing a cancelled 5-cent U.S. stamp. Some circulation scuffs, and a former collector's inscription verso. Comes with a Zarelli Space Authentication LOA, submission number 161126-23, dated November 26, 2016.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house world-wide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
