19th Century Books (2), Theater Items, and a Charming Letter

A charming archive of 19th-century items consisting of two books, two small theater items, and a short letter from a godmother to her godson. Details below are as follows:

1. "Guy Mannering; or The Astrologer". Volume I of II. Philadelphia: J. Maxwell, 1820. 295pp, twelvemo. With a bookplate and inscription on the front free endpapers and front pastedown reading, "Presented to the Y.M.S.I. Society by J.A. Sharbez."

2. "Hymns of the Protestant Episcopal Church". Philadelphia: S.F. Bradford, 1827. 50pp, 32mo. Red leather-bound boards. Signed by the owner four times on the front free endpapers.

3. "Jack, The Giant Killer" Theater Pamphlet. 4pp of a bifolium, measuring 4.75" x 8", No place, dated May 15, 1883. Produced by the Theatre Royal, three printed scenes. Accompanied by a cardboard Giant from the play, holding a club and painted green and brown. The lower part of the figure's legs is missing.

4. ALS to I.A. Riddick. 4pp of a bifolium, measuring 2.5" x 4", No place, undated. A sweet letter from his godmother, reading in part: "Kisses & thanks for the splendid box of such nice things. But why did you not jump in and come too, then I would have kissed you & been so glad to see you. I want to see you 'mighty bag' & am afraid you will not know me. I wanted to send you a nice birthday gift but could not get it ready. Watch out it will come some day…You must kiss sis Daisy for me. You must be a good little boy, mind your Pa & Ma & be kind to Daisy and everybody…"

Expected wear to the books, with the spines and edges being scratched and bumped. Light toning and foxing to the internal pages, along with a few areas of dampstaining. Light toning and foxing to the ALS. Flattened folds to the theater pamphlet and the giant figure is missing the lower half of his legs. Overall very good.
