Archive

A group of 19 majority vintage photographs autographed by 20th C. political, military, art, music, literary and sports notables, most being American signers. Various dates but ca. 1930s-[1990s]. Various places, with a strong association to the Radford School for Girls in El Paso, Texas. The autographs range from simple signatures to lengthy signed dedicatory inscriptions. We've done our best, but there could be secretarial signatures found within this collection. With some photographer's stamps and stated examples by Fabian Bachrach, Angus McBean, the Naval Photographic Center, and other studios. Expected wear including isolated wrinkles, flattened folds, toning, mat burn, surface loss, and discoloration. Please refer to catalog photos for additional information related to condition, which is overall very good. The average size of the matted photographs is 10.875" x 13.875."

Many of the inscriptions refer to "Dr. Templin" or the "Radford School for Girls." This was Dr. Lucinda de Leftwich Templin (1888-1969), the longtime principal of the Radford School for Girls, a private all-girls boarding school whose institutional precedent was established in El Paso, Texas in the 1910s. Under Dr. Templin's four decades of leadership from 1927, the school flourished. It still operates today.
