Roger Sherman (1721-1793) was a Founding Father of the United States. He is the only person to sign all four great state papers of the United States; the Continental Association, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution.

William Pitkin (1694-1769) was a colonial governor of the Connecticut Colony. He was also active in the colonial militia. In 1735 Pitkin was elected county judge, and in 1741 he became a superior court judge, a post he would hold until he was elected governor in 1766. In 1754 he was also elected deputy governor, serving under Thomas Fitch, and as Chief Justice, Connecticut Superior Court, an office tied to the deputy governorship.

Samuel Huntington (1731-1796) was a Founding Father of the United States and a jurist, statesman, and Patriot in the American Revolution from Connecticut. As a delegate to the Continental Congress, he signed the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation. George Pitkin (1729-1806) was a commander of the Minute Men, who had served with the Continental army during 1775 as lieutenant colonel of the 4th Connecticut Regiment. Continuing ill health obliged Pitkin to resign his militia commission. He served as clerk to both Connecticut Superior and Supreme Courts.
