An issue of "The Blue and Gold" literary magazine containing a piece by Tom Clancy. Towson: Loyola High School, 1963. First Edition, Vol. XIII, No. 2, Winter 1963. Octavo, 47 pages. Clancy's work is entitled "Cornier Than Kellogg's" and plays on the proposed sale of wheat to Soviet Russia. Staple bound, with foxing and staining to covers. There is a pencil illustration to inside of front cover and "Mark" written in pencil on title page with other small doodles. Very good.

Tom L. Clancy Jr. (1947-2013) was an American novelist best known for his espionage and military-science storylines set during and after the Cold War. Seventeen of his novels have been bestsellers and more than 100 million copies of his books have been sold. Clancy launched his literary career in 1984 when he published "The Hunt for Red October", the first appearance of his popular character, Jack Ryan.

Clancy attended Loyola High School in Towson, Maryland, a private Catholic secondary school taught by the Jesuit religious order from 1961 to 1965. He then attended the associated Loyola College (now Loyola University Maryland) in Baltimore. He would have been 16 at the time of writing the above!
